Default How many blocks do you do a day?

I see some people doing 2-3 blocks on this forum. It sounds quite insane considering the fact that the time it takes to review each block is insanely long (for me at least.)

Do you think doing 2 blocks a day (for 2 1/2 weeks) is over-kill, on the verge on inducing a burnout?

Default One block

For me doing more than a block a day is not efficient ,when I do more just want to skip the answers!

When I first went through USMLE World QBank, I did two blocks per day with about 3 hours each (I had read FA through before, though). Your speed will increased gradually since certain things repeat often. When I took Kaplan QBank, I took up to 6 blocks per day, because most of it I had already seen in USMLE World.

IMHO, it really doesn't matter how long a block takes, what's more important is the ability to retain and re-use that concept again! In short, it boils down to how strong your basics are in the different systems. If it's taking a long time or rather, if the material seems new, it's obvious that this area would demand more time than your stronger subject areas. You could probably do 2-3 blocks in a day easy, if you are reviewing UW the second time, and correct me if I'm wrong, but some people use UW offline at first and then repeat it again online.

When you say review Uworld do you mean reset UWorld or just going through the stuff with the highlighted explanations again?

Reviewing UW = Reset, do all the blocks again, focussing primarily on the questions you get wrong. Doing 2 blocks per day, should be very do-able for your second review, and it would be wise to review FA atleast once (minimum) in between before the 2nd round of UW. Some people who run out of time, just repeat the incorrect ones from their 1st round of UW, and others do marked and incorrect questions. You're also likely to find people recommending a 2nd question bank, sometimes even a 3rd one! IMHO, this would make sense if you feel like you have mastered UW+FA in the first instance.

Well I still haven't finished UWorld the first time around. I just did one block (timed) a day for the subject I was studying, and now I want to do the remaining questions (which is like 74% unused) 2 blocks a day, in a random, timed mode. Do you think this is a good idea? Or should I continue doing it subject/system wise?

I would recommend that you take your time doing the first round of UW. If you are able to complete 2 blocks a day, or even 3 blocks a day, and feel confident that you have understood the concept it is trying to convey, then sure, go for it.
I feel it is the annotating bits that takes time, not the actual blocks (which I usually prefer to do in timed mode).

How long did it the you to do a pass of of UWorld? Did you do one block a day during your first pass?

It's true that the annotating bit takes forever.

I haven't finished all of UW, but it should take roughly about 2 months. I am doing it subject wise and when I came across any weak areas, such as Biochemistry in my case, I actually slowed down a lot (taking time to review from reference sources, etc)

It really is personally down to you, regarding the speed of the process. If I really wanted to blitz through UW, I very well could. But I don't see the point, considering that UW is pretty much the highest-yield resource there is, for this exam, in terms of understanding the content.
