Smile Salmonella new nomenclature on the Test

Hi everyone (possibly those who already took the test),

Just wondering how USMLE writes out Salmonella. Do they use the new nomenclature rules or the old ones ?

New/recent rules - Salmonellae are named by the genus Salmonella, species Enterica and subspecies (ex typhii)

So the new way to write it would be - Salmonella Enterica subsp. typhi or Salmonella Enterica subsp. enteritidis

Thanks!

Yes, I agree that you don't need to worry about those details. They will clearly differentiate typhus from enteriditis if its necessary to answer the question.
