Kaplan Medical Kaplan Lecture Notes 2010

The new Kaplan Lecture Notes 2010 is now available. I have the 2009 version. Should I be worried. Should I go and buy the new series.

Please help.

I had to answer this question few days ago as I had to ship the books to my brother.
I hand checked the 2009 and the 2010 versions.
There are some differences in the chapter sequences and arrangement only otherwise the content is exactly the same word to word.
So don't bother, your 2009 is enough

It's funny how Kaplan tries to convince students each year that their next version is the most updated and must-have one.
They play with numbering and rearrangement thinking that would fool the intelligent medical student!
I think they should stop this, or at least make less frequent like for example every two or three years.

By the way it's the same story with First Aid
If your copy is less than 5 year old, you are safe

I have 2008 notes and I cross checked each and every chapter with 2009 and they are the same.
But this is not the same for Step 2 CK.
My 2008 Step 2 CK medicine notes is 300 pages while the new 2010 is 400 pages, so for CK get the new 2010 but for step1 your 2008 notes is fine.

Default Be careful!

Hi there - be careful though... as with everything, you should know your material before you use these review resources. There were two big glaring mistakes that we know of that really embarrassed some people who only studied from those notes...

1) The 2006ish version of the notes says that there is no vaccine for HPV. The number of Gardasil ads on TV these days begs to disagree...

2) Again the 2006ish version of these notes states that p-anca is associated with Polyarteritis Nodosa. Convenient if that was true as you could make a mnemonic - p-ANCA and PAN But it's not true. As many people quite correctly point out on one of the other posts I put up, there is no p-anca / PAN association.

So anyway, the point is, be careful. Always try and get the latest, most accurate stuff. Even with the free stuff - it's always caveat emptor

Hope that helps!

thaT was the reason i was worried about the edition. As i am already studying from the 2008 editon so i dont want to change the books. if there is major difference than i should buy the new 2010 edition. if the new edition is same like 2008 than i will continue to study from my 2008 edition. So if anybody has compared 2008 with 2010. then please tell me.

hie..I have not really started hardcore studying for my USMLE yet..but I have certainly referred to both 2007 edition and 2010 edition of pharmacology kaplan books. and frankly I am almost half way through pharmacology and so far I am yet to spot a difference. So all of u guys who are using 2007-2009 edition Kaplan notes.. all I can say is that do not depress ur mind further worrying about the new edition...its really not worth it !!..gud luk .

Default 2008 and 2010 not same...

people beware .... THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 2008 AND 2010 EDITIONS.. i am watching step 1 kaplan behavioural sciences videos by Dr. daughtery and alongside i m reading kaplan behavioural sciences 2008 edition... there r significant additions that dr. daughtery has made to his lectures which r not covered in 2008 editions... so i searched and downloaded 2010 edition which completely matches his lectures.... i am not sure if 1st AID and UW will completely cover all these differences and i am not sure if this is the case wid just one subject (behavioral sciences) or all of the others too...

I wouldn't say so for FA. You have to take into account the continous corrections (+errata) and removal of tired out subjects and newer HY diagrams and topics.

Exactly!
Everytime this funny bold guy is trying to say that its the whole new world, that Kaplan is THE most up-to-date recourse.

I have LN 2011 and they are the same as LN 2009. + some stuff is missing.
The same sad story is with videos 2008 are still running at Kaplan Centers for students who pay full price for preparation for 2011 Step 1.
