Listening Want to improve in Pathology

Hi guys, im 2 weeks away from my test and i did nbme 16 not scoring as i wanted (224) so now focusing on weak areas.

i scored higher that borderline on pathology (exactly in the middle of borderline and high performance)
i wanted to know what can i do to improve in pathology? i have a feeling that improving here will also rise my score as we know that pathology is 60% of test and also in the new changes of the test they cut some "normal physiology" questions too, so overall more pathology.
what do you think of this?? please answer im really frustrated, i want at least +230

in nbme 16 i did some silly mistakes, was really nervous so i think that lowered my performance, but anyhow im willing to improve, will do UWSA1 in 4 days.

please any suggestions are more than welcome. last weeks are really painful.

i have done pathoma and did kaplan for pathology (please dont slap me lol)
and read FA twice, now im finishing my 3rd time.

In my case i havent tried goljan book.(İt is damn overkill) I think kaplan patho book is better than pathoma book read it one more time. İf you listened pathoma lectures you should have good grasp of subjects. The ony thing you have to do is repetition

Correct Answer

thanks for replying.
yes, thanks ill do repetition on pathology more oriented.
i wanted to ask people who have given step1 or have insight from friends that have given step1:

do you recall EVERYTHING from FA when its TIME to give the test? (i mean the important stuff like MOA, side effects, histologic hallmarks...) do you recall all of them? or is it normal to go into the test with a gap here and there??
when do you know is THE TIME FOR STEP1 TAKING???

i ask cause i keep forgetting stuff!!! drives me nuts, i dont know if im in panic state and this is what is affecting me or is it normal?? try to recall everything from FA as i go reading it but it seems a impossible task.

I would advise you to go through FA again real fast and write down the things you completely forgot on separate sheets of papers.....or you could highlight them with a highlighter....Go through these really well a few days before the exam.

DO NOT waste your time reading the points in FA which you can remember ......ONLY concentrate on the things you entirely forgot or can vaguely remember.....

I wouldn't advise you to go over Goljan at this time, if you haven't done so before. You'd be better off revising FA or Pathoma or even UW notes.

All the best for your exam....

thank you, very logic, right now im finishing my 3rd fast review, its really painful to go thru the book one more time and i think that will make me more anxious, so yes, ill focus on weakness and forgettables only, i get so nervous i forget the formulas and i hate that, i guess i will write them down on the paper that day.
thanks guys for your input, and the warm wishes

I do pretty well in Pathology, and I attribute it mostly to Pathoma. Over the last month I watched pathoma while taking notes in the Pathoma text. I have found that to be very effective, since the lectures complement the book and vica versa.

Didnt you read Goljan ? I watched pathoma videos 2 times and read pathoma book countless times but ended up around 60%-70% in uworld. I felt like pathoma is very deficient in most of topics although it is a very good book to understand.

Guys I think pathoma is good. We cannot limit it to 60-70%
It all depends on how much we are able to retain. I finished uworld with pathology around 70%. I just did pathoma not Goljan. But I think some of the patho questions I got wrong were in pathoma. So I think knowing pathoma very well will let u score 85+ in pathology. But you will kill it if u add Goljan audios.

You are totally right. The problem for me ı am at 85th. percentile in most of subjects except pathology pathophysio . İ think i understand every concept that Dr. Sattar explains. For example i just did first aid for pharm but i ended up around 90th. percentile in uworld. Although i did pathoma and first aid patho countless times my patho is not even close to my other subject. That makes me questioning pathoma more than myself. ( By the way my patho in medschool was my worst subject too )
