Warning! I failed

Hi Guys!

I'm soooo sad!
I failed my step 1 with 190 of score. :too sad:
I just feel i want to quick everything else and do another career.....but i love being a doctor....my background is I'm IMG, and started preparing a 1year ago. But have the limitation that I'm working too.
And take longer because sometimes the study went off and on, due to work and personals issues.

I don't want to quit! That's why I need your help to figure out a plan to start all over again. But i don't know which is the best way to approach it.

Im really desperate!
Jules

Thumbs Up

Stay positive, at least you did not pass the exam with a 193 and hence would have been stuck with that mark for 7 years. Now you have the opportunity to study again, and improve your mark. I know its tough to start all over again, having other life commitments (I am in the same boat). But if other people have failed and passed the second time around, then there is no reason why you can't do the same.

Remember, "where there's a will there's a way"

All the best, I am sure you are going to do very well the second time around.

I'm sorry to hear that but I believe you can bounce back from this. Like the previous poster said, at least you didn't barely pass because that would have probably entirely squashed your chances of matching. So keep your head up get back in the game.

I haven't taken the exam yet but all I can recommend (from what I've read) is to go back and focus on your weaknesses and take some time per each subject/weakness (1 week) to understand the concept as best as you can and then review it on the weekends. Review the Qbank again and better yet, get a new qbank so you'll start off from the scratch (ie. you won't recognize answers like if you would if you already went through a qbank once or twice.) Keep Uworld to the end as always.

I wish you the best of luck and try not to be so hard on yourself!

Hi Jules, just let me say that YOU CAN DO IT!!! you WILL DO IT!!! stick those words in your mind

i would say take a quick break probably a week, think and analyze WHAT WENT WRONG, was it your anxiety? did you find yourself narrowing most questions to two answers?? try to think what made you fail.

after this then i think you have to do a REVIEW, focusing NOW on what went wrong (e.g. took too long for answering, poor basics, etc) and try to improve those areas + a review course like DIT and Pathoma will be my suggestions.

if you have limited time try to organize yourself so you can be consistent, its not recommended to do the on and off studying cause you forget IMPORTANT facts. so try to make it short but intense.

all the best and you WILL do it

Thank you guys for taking your time and give me words of motivations!!
I really appreciate it with all my heart!!

After doing some thinking; i think anxiety was part of the main issue, i was familiar with most of the topics, also I'm having issue in recalling simple facts, however hard questions i answer them easier. I have some wt*questions and that gave me distress and make more anxious because i didn't know what to do with them and made me insecure for future questions.

My plan for the moment is:
Do quick review of:
Physio, anat, Bioch-genetics(some WT* were genetics), inmuno from KaplanN;
pathoma,
Usmlerx
DIT
FA
UW- for the end.

It sounds a lot, but i'm open if you guys have any other idea.
Im trying to be positive and with your words make me see the situation in other point of view.

Thanks guys
