USMLE Scores Step 1 Score question

Hey Guys,

Not sure if this is in the right section, but hopefully, if not, please move it. Thanks I am posting this for my girlfriend, she just got her scores back for step 1 and she is really down about it. She mainly feels bad since she did Falcon and a lot of stuff to prepare, mainly I think she just wants to validate everything she has done.

She is from a Caribbean school, and was wondering how good is her score. She got a 223/95. They tell her that she needs to score at least 10 points higher than her US counterparts, so to score a 230 if you want to do internal medicine. She really wanted to get a 230 on it.

I appreciate everyones feedback and comment, and hopefully it will help her out also!

Thank you very much

I was just speaking to one of my friends about this yesterday. There is a page in the beginning of FA which has like all the step score correlating with residency fields. I personally believe that a 220 is what I'd minimally want. I will of course take a passing score lol cuz I am sure coming out of the exam I am going to feel like crap. But I would tell your gf that anything above a 220 she shouldn't worry :P

Thanks cutie pie! I appreciate the feedback. I forget where I found this when I was researching for her, not sure how well it correlates to whatever, but it seems anything below 220 like you said is not bad at all:

She can get into internal medicine with 223/95 easily.
She must get LoRs though, since she's Caribbean I don't think that's a problem for her
