Unhappy Results came :( FAILED.. what to do next?

Hey guys i just got my score of 178 and failed by 10pts...

Im planin on retaking the exam soon as i thought i didnt have a good exam day.
My stats:
UWorld avg 60% (timed, used, random)
NBME7 460 (but self-paced)

But my question is that im planin on taking the exam end of may or beginining of June which is around the same time U.S. Students take theirs... Ive heard that its not a good idea to take it with them..
Any insight on that?

Anyone here who has failed and has a success story on the 2nd try? Plz post how u studied the second time...
My problem is that i know the stuff really good in and out but i cant seem to understand what the questions are trying to ask... well atleast on the real exam... which were asking questions very abstractly and threw me off.

thanks in advance

Default Do Kaplan Qbank

It's time for you now to do Kaplan Qbank and First Aid.

Yes, if you take the exam in late summer, you will be competing with US students but I don't think that will affect your score tremendously.

Dude

I say u r lucky [better think like that ] for if u had passed with that extra 10 marks then u would have got such a low score.....and you cant re-attempt for 7 years !!! ...

Ok so your prep ..u did FA and kaplan notes/videos...Since u got 60% in uworld ... ur prep was ok and since your are gonna take the step again.... u have turned your failure in to stimulant !!

So make a list

1] your weak areas [borderline or below]....re do concept and memorize from FA completely till every page is imprinted in ur brain.......stick to kaplan notes/videos from here on for reference n other purposes ...no need for too many materials

2] since u did nbme in self paced...maybe ur ability to answer under pressure without burning out ....so start doing mock exams of 5-7 blocks [ like the real exam]

3] make a new target Uworld >70-75 % , Nbme timed [>250 equivalent] ....the moment you hit ur targets [ whatever it is ] do the step

4] i heard mol bio, biochem, and genetics are being asked in increasing numbers now so make sure u know the latest trend in Step 1 [ if any like that ]
