Help Started step 1 prep

Hi everyone,

I started my prep for step 1 this week and would like to take my exam sometime in December..I have joined Kaplan classes..and have first aid too..

I have been going through the threads and have seen people talking about NBME and UW..
I would like to know more about it and how and when to use it..also is there any need to study the whole basics like we did in med school?

Please help out..

NBME: Best assessment tool so far to predict [+/- 10] the score you will get in Step 1 exam.... So use it for assessing yourself

Best times: once u have gone thru all the topics [maybe first or second read] and understood all the topics [maybe not memorized all] then do one nbme self assessment to see where u stand

Then 4 weeks and then 2 weeks before exam...that way u can evaluate ur improvement and see whehter u want more prep or not....usually nbme 7 is said to be the most accurate.....so keep it for last

Uworld:

Well the best Qbank .....questions are not similar to Step but the concepts are and also it make think in multi step pattern necessary for Step.

start after u have gone thru all the topics . usually when starting Uworld ....in assessment ppl average around 55 % ...and when they finish it ....reached 70% ...so tht should be ur target .. note down all concepts or things u find important into FA

since ur joined kaplan ..why dont u do a self assessment to see ur weak areas.....then u can see if u have to brush up ur basics or not .
