hi ''whocares(lol) ''

So iam also doing goljan right now

So from what others advised me ..the best way to do it is......first read RR ...then a a second read while listening to Goljan audios....add the extra points into the margins..............then do questions [ chapter wise].i personally prefer robbins path Qbook - more clinical and very tough too ....getting around 60-70 % in this is pretty good.....once done this add the extra points to the margins.....go for a third read if time is there........just the blue notes and tables will do............memorize the FA and the blue notes and tables....the rest understand

Well it depends ....Path is weak subject and >40% of step is patho-physio and am sticking to the Zumzum method so ...i have given it 1 month..... to finish goljan twice ,do robbins and FA Path and goljan audio too .

So first thing

1] how strong is your path basics ? if you dont know , Do the 350 Question [online thing you get with the book ] and see how much you score
2] What is your total study duration for step 1 ?

Ppl who are good at path takes max 10-15 days .......covering system wise or else 2-4 chapters a day ................

But ppl like me...slow readers and path being a weak subject takes arnd 30 days .. 2 chapters max a day

So See what suits you

Hey depends on how much time you have. If you have a lot of time then you can take 2 weeks to listen to Goljan audios. What I did was listened to Goljan audios in one week along with FA. Just understand it and then do UWorld questions. Thats all you need.

If you are very weak in Pathology then you can read along goljans book with his audio, otherwise if you do not have a lot of time...Just listen to the audio along with FA and just do questions. = )

If you buy Goljan RR, there's a serial code number inside the book that you input in their website to access Goljan RR online and the 350 questions.

My Goljan Qbank has 437 qs and I have done half of them. I don't know about those 350Qs and how to get them. Qs here are much easier than UWbank or Kbank qs, still nicely written and worth trying. Somehow I feel they are better written than the Rx Qbank, esp the explanation. I don't know how doing these Qs helps with the exam but hopefully its not a waste of time.
What 350Qs are you talking about?

@patho2012:

I think the 350 questions are the ones at studentconsult.com that comes with the online access of the Goljan RR book. It's only 350 mcqs in the 2nd ed of the book.

I hope we're talking about the same source because my Goljan RR 2nd ed book online subscription is about to expire. Your feedback made me think to go and answer/study the 350 mcqs.

Yeah, I have tried both and I like the Goljan Qbank 's explanation better. Rx only makes you to give the dx, Goljan qs require you to choose the test. And they have 437 Q in total, including Qs for other subjects such as Micro, Imm, Biostat as well. I haven't tried those except for Pathology Qs...
How about the pathology Qs given for the Student Consult Qbank ? (its called Robbins-Klatt Qbank,I think?). Have you tried them out?

Thanks for the feedback!

I haven't tried student consult qbank yet. I don't know where to put it in my prep... I also still have kaplan qbank to do.

I just looked in their website. There's a free trial for both the student consult qbank and the Robbins patho qbank. I'll just check it out one of these days and see. You might also want to look into the quality of their questions and explanations. Here's the link: http://www.usmleconsult.com/free-trial/free-trial.cfm

Yep... In my case, at this point in my prep, I feel tired to go back and read all the books again. I just want to listen and watch audios/videos. It's a good thing we have goljan lectures.

Goljan audios + BRS Path is great and saves tons of time. But you have to know very well every point in the audio files. And do tons of Qs. Now Pathoma is emerging as another (better?) alternative and it'll grow on you...
