Default Step 1: 226 - Need suggestions

I got my Step 1 Score today of 226. I am an IMG and was looking to apply for match in Sept. 2014. I still need to give Step 2 CK.

This score has me worried about my chances of getting through. Should I continue with USMLE and go ahead with Step 2 CK? What options are available for someone with this score?

Any suggestions on how to go forward will be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

Absolutely!! Go take all the other exams and apply for residency!!!
These are just numbers... you are so much more than a three digit score, never forget that. Add more to your CV such as research, USCE etc.

How did you score on your NBMEs?
How was the exam overall?

I was scoring between 230-240 on my NBMEs. I screwed by Behavioral sciences on the real test. I was expecting to score more than 240 so this score of 226 is a real bummer.

I do have 2 months of USCE from Cornell.

What corrective actions should I take now to improve my match chances? Can a good step2 CK score redeem me?

Was anything else covered by UW/FA combo? 2 months USCE are great! If you are still in Touch with The attendings try to get yourself into a research project... Like a metaanalysis. This way you can make contact as well...

I don't think you should give up with that Step 1 score (I'm assuming this is your first attempt, right?). It's actually a better score than the average Step 1 score for matched US IMG candidates and it's about the range of matched non-US IMGs from the 2013 match.

General advice would be to do the best you can with step 2 CK to be above the mean score, as well as trying to continue and do things now that will be help your application (you can read a more in-depth article about this here). Are there particular specialties that you want to apply for? I would think that you do have options to match at different specialties.
