Question How to deal with being tired?

I know that everybody is different but I want to hear what those of you that took the test did to help with being tired after the 5th block. How did you space your breaks? I feel tired just doing one block. Tomorrow I will do my first UWSA and I can't even fathom doing 4 blocks straight.

lol I know what you mean. I felt the same when I started UWorld and started studying in Jan. I started off with 20 questions everyday and then gradually increased it to 1 block a day...from there on I would do a few blocks on most days but others Id go back to doing one block. To be honest Ive noticed the more you do questions eventually you will see yourself increasing number of questions and not feeling as tired. I feel like you just tend to go quicker, all because of practice.

I think also that I'd be up for so many hours studying that itself just gave me stamina to sit still lol.

But I think that in the beginning this always happens. Eventually you will see yourself speed up and be less tired!!!

I haven't taken my exam yet though! less than 10 days to go!!

I packed a bar of soap and a small towel and every two blocks during the exam I would go and wash my face... Felt very refreshed afterwards. Power Bars might help as well

Default Thanks!

That's a great idea... Cautie let me know how it goes. It's just around the corner!!! How exciting and scary at the same time.

Anyone else who would like to share how they split up the exam?

I love the soap and towel idea. I'm really worried about not sleeping and performance anxiety. I think I'm going to take a Beta-Blocker but I'm trying to figure out what to take to sleep the night before that won't make me feel groggy. Plus I'm still breastfeeding my baby so there's barely anything I can take. At least my husband can take it that day

My husband and I are both studying so he gets the mornings to study while I have the baby and in the afternoon we switch. Starting on the 2nd of May we are putting him in daycare to really cram the last 2 months. It's hard but someone's got to do it! lol He's napping right now and I'm studying FA biochemistry. My husband is doing UWSA 1 and in the afternoon I will do it... EEEEEEKKKKK!!!!

What to take before you go to bed so you dont wake up groggy- Melatonin. Just make sure you actually have 8 hrs to sleep. It induces sleep, and you can buy them from almost any store. I take 1 sublingual on the days where i need my sleep to be nice and deep. It makes my dreams vivid and i wake up feeling energized

Also, instead of red bull, i reccomend those 5 hr energy shots that truckers take. They have NEVER made me jittery in the past ( and ive experimented w/redbull and monster before), they are usually sold near the chewing gum section of most supermarkets and gas stations.

Oh yea and thanks for the towel and soap idea.. smelling nice always wakes me up Im gonna add my own spin on the soap and say a minty face wash. I think nutrogena makes those ones that makes ur face tingle..lol
