Default Non-competitive and competitive antagonists.

So non-competitive antagonists bind to allosteric sites, which cause "changes" in the actual receptor sites (am I getting this right?). I know the efficacy decreases but why doesn't the potency decrease?

Competitive antagonists bind to the actual receptor sites and hence prevent agonists from binding onto them. This therefore decreases the potency but why does it not decrease the efficacy?

I am currently doing pharmacology and I haven't started biochemistry yet, so please guys try to explain without using the Km and Vmax
