Here are some tips,

*THE URINARY INFECTIONS are the most common cause of the red urine.

*If the pt is above 60 (years old), think BENIGN PROSTAT HYPERPLAZIA.

*If the pt is under 20, think GLOMERULONEPHRITIS.

*If the pt has lomber pain, it would be KIDNEY STONE.

*If the pt has a lomber mass, it'd be RENAL CELL TUMOR.

*If the pt has an abdominal mass without any pain, it'd would be BLADDER TUMOR.

*The other causes are PORFIRIA, RIFAMPISIN and consuming RED BEET.

Pathology Tips,

*If there are normal erythrocytes in urine sample, then the pathology could be in urethra, bladder, ureter, urinary pelvis and calyces.

*If there are dysmorphic erythrocytes in urine sample, the pathology could be glomerular.

*If the urine is red but there isn't any erythrocytes in the urine sample, then it'd be intravascular hemolysis.
