Default New USMLE pattern?

Hi guys,

So, officially it says the changes to the Step 1 are as follows:

What WILL change?
In 2014 and 2015, examinees will see an increased focus on quality improvement principles and safety science.

What WILL NOT change?
Step 1 will continue to focus on traditional content areas in the basic sciences within a clinical context. The format will continue to be a computer-administered examination, using multiple-choice questions.

For all those who recently gave the new pattern of the exam, can you please elaborate on what exactly was different? The statement provided about the changes is too vast to fully understand. Are there any areas that we should be focusing more/less on?

Any help would be much appreciated!!

1) I'm planning on giving Step 1 in Jan 2015. Just started studying. Using Kaplan notes and videos, Goljan, FA and UW. Is this enough?

2) How much better is BRS Physio as compared to Kaplan notes Physio? Will doing Kaplan for Physio suffice?

3) Is it possible to go over UWorld twice + USMLE Rx Q Bank in two months?

4) What NBMEs do you recommend? Which one gave you questions closest to the new pattern of the exam?

Thanks! This forum is really helpful!
