Default Consanguinity statistics

Can someone explain to me how the statistics behind consanguinity works? I don't understand why siblings should share 1/2 of their genes. I could have inherited 23 chromosomes from my mother and 23 from my father. My sister could have inherited exactely the other "complementary" 23 chrom. from my mother and father, which would mean, that we won't have any common chrom. I think there is a mistake in my thinking process. Can anyone find the fault? Thx
