Default Failed NBME Passed USMLE Step 1

This post is for those who failed their NBME, but could not cancel their exam dates for a VALID reason.

NBME12 2 days before exam: 177 (failure)
Free 150 2 days before: 66% (failure)
UWorld Assessment 2 weeks before: 201 (pass)
Real score: 195 (pass)

NBME is a good score predictor, but you are the better judge. Uworld assessment is a good gauge on what subject to focus on, but again you are the better judge.

One thing that I regretted the most was taking my assessment exam 2 days before the real test. When I learned that my score was bad, my confidence went from 7/10 to 1/10. Guys, I was extremely nervous during the exam. I was shaking while taking the test, I couldn't even hold the mouse properly. Before starting every block I had to tell myself "you can still pass". But after every block I remember my NBME failure then I feel so down again. Doing that 7 times was so exhausting. It made my USMLE experience terrible!

I think confidence is a very big factor. So pls don't take any assessment test when you can no longer do something about your score. Assessment tests are called such to assess which subject needs improvement and then you can do something about it. Do not do what I did! Learn from my mistake. I wouldn't say that I would get a 250 if I was confident during my exam. But I could have given myself a better experience of the USMLE step 1. (Or maybe few points higher...winkwink)

BUT If you already took your NBME with a low score (or failed like I did) and your exam is less than 5 days from now, do your self a favor by concentrating more on improving your confidence than cramming for the exam. I know that is hard, but you have to believe that you will still make it. Prayers help too.

Again:This post is for those who failed their NBME, but could not cancel their exam dates for a VALID reason.
