Default To the usmle first timers...

I know how scary it is going through this forum and seeing all the amazing scores and wondering how you'll ever make it. I just want to use my story to encourage you.
I am an img who graduated in 2012, moved to america in Aug 2013, started my usmle prep in Oct 2013 and i am now ecfmg certified.
Step 1- 240
Step 2cs- pass
Step 2ck- 235
Currently preppn for step 3

My advice to you? 1. Dont ever forget God
2. Make a target and work towards it (my target was to have a complete application before August 2014)
3. Work hard and be ready to make a lot of sacrifices

My nbmes for step 1;
Nbme 7- 165 (3mths to exam)
Nbme 11-196 (6wks to exam)
Nbme 15- 217 (3wks to exam)
As you can see, nbme wasnt predictive for me
My most valuable resources for step 1- first aid (2X), uworld (1X), goljan notes, audio, pathoma videos. I attended kaplan live lecture and studied on my own for 3mths

Step 2ck; studied for about 6weeks. Read Mtb 2&3, solved 90% of uworld cos i didnt have time to finish it. After my experience with step 1, i didnt bother doing any nbme or uwssa for step 2 ck.

Step 2cs; i practiced first aid cases with fellow exam takers at the kaplan centre and i also practised with my mirror (lol!)

I hope i was able to encourage someone with this little write up. Feel free to ask any questions

Thanks a lot, Definitely Encouraging!!

I have a few questions if you don't mind?

1. how many months for step 1?
How many months would you recommend for an Img
How many days in a week and hours in a day of studying?

2. How were the Kaplan Live Lectures?
Which center did you attend? Chicago?
Did you take the 7 week or 14 week?
Do those afternoon discussion sessions I hear about help?

3. What do you think about Kaplan Classroom anywhere?

Thanks a lot for giving information back to us
Congrats and all the best!!
