Default Prometric Appointment

Hi guys,
Unfortunately, I am not able to do my step 1 exam during the extended eligibility period -which ends after 2 weeks-.

I had scheduled a prometric appointment but I did not appear to the exam without cancelling the appointment, do I need to cancel it? (because I want to apply for step 1 again in a new application and a new eligibility period). Or just ignore it and schedule new one after the new application process?
Thanks

I think you should call ecfmg and pronetric and inform them asap. If u don't cancel the appointment it's considered as being absent for the test.

Are you sure?
What does being absent for the exam mean, I mean how does it affect the new application?

please anyone has accurate answer?

Dunno how exactly it'll affect but it will be mentioned in your ecfmg records, unlike when u cancel the test and during interviews they'll ask you why you didn't appear for the exam. Not canceling it on the website would not be a good explanation

I recently read one of the old posts on this forum and someone had mentioned that as long as you don't show up on the exam day and dont start the block, nothing happens and noone will ever find out. However, I would still highly recommend that you take all the necessary precautions just for extra measure.
I cant find that thread again, you can try finding it too.

I think you mean this one:

Cancelling the exam does not count as an attempt

Mate, which "prometric fee" you are talking about?!

Again my question is :
If I'm not able to take exam during extended eligibility period and I want want to apply again and pay entire exam fee maybe 2 months later; what should I do now? Should I cancel prometric appointment after missing it?

If u cancel before 1 month u don't have to pay, if u cancel before 5 days it's 60$ and if u cancel after that u shud pay prometric 100-400$ depending on which country ur from. If u don't cancel at all I dunno which category u fall under. Paying ecfmg for the extension is different. U also have to pay prometric

Those fees are for rescheduling or changing the appointment within the same eligibility period (cancelling + putting new date in the same period).

All the money ecfmg earns through exam cancellations would probably end world hunger in a day.

What I am sure about is: It is not considered an attempt. If you do not go to the prometric center it is not considered an attempt and will not be mentioned in your data later.

What I am still not sure about is: why should we cancel prometric appointment if we want to apply again??
