Anatomy Anatomy Low Yield Subject for Step 1!

hey guys a lot of people said to me that anatomy is so LOW YIELD that most of students face only two or three questions @ exam day..
some may say 5 or 6 but not more...

what u guys think of it..if its true then we have to spend more time on 3Ps(patho,pharma and physio) instead of scaring anatomy...

today at kaplan accademy some fresh step1 taking students also told me same thing...
if it is applicable then i am outa frying pan into..... cuz i hate anatomy
some students got only 2 questions from gross anatomy...

PLZ GIVE UR SUGGESSTIONS

thanx

Hey from what I've heard it's fair game. I know a girl who said she had like 5-6 anatomy Qs per block!!!

So like the above poster said, give it a once over and hope for the best. It's all in the luck of the draw.

5-6 questions per block mean 42 questions in exam..
ya i agree wid u its just draw and luck of game..
anyway anatomy questions may be less as compared to 3Ps..

According to StepTaker, Gross Anatomy and Histology and Embryology and Neuroanatomy all combined account for only 15% of the questions!

In my opinion anatomy is medium yield at least, i had at least 20qs from anatomy on step1, and i took it like 3weeks or so ago, and mostly its nerve injuries and brain pics (stems, crossections, cranial nerves, hematoma CTs and internalcapsule crossections)

I don't understand why people keep saying anatomy is a low yield subject. I got at least 7-8 questions in every block , particularly neuroanatomy. My advice is: study anatomy cause it s worth it. I've got a couple of immunology too

Dont be fooled with the " i got 2 questions" nonsense - that might have been he might have been troubled enough to remember those questions and tag them as anatomy...

remember, USMLE exams are created from a "sampling grid" which means that there will be PERFECT representation of a predetermined number of questions from certain subjects - this is what keeps the exam reproducible across years and hundreds of administrations.

I also thought anatomy was low yield. but thank god i studied everything uniformly because i got just a couple of questions from anat which were slightly challenging but no other way could i have crossed 250.

So study it all uniformly.

by adding
gross anatomy+ neuroanatomy+embryo+general anatomy
we can say 6 questions per block
but as far as gross anatomy is concerned i think only 1 question per block is enough .....
