MusculoSkeletal Marfan's Syndrome

MARFAN'S:

Mitral valve prolapse
Aortic Aneurysm
Retinal detachment
Fibrillin
Arachnodactyly
Negative Nitroprusside test (differentiates from homocystinuria)
Subluxated lens(Upward dislocation of Lens)

M can be for Increase Methionine
Mcan be for Microfibrilin protein (ECM) protein which is aka Fibrillin

Our path professors really stressed this as a diagnostic characteristic:
Marfan's Up and Out dislocation vs. Homocysteinuria Down and In dislocation

however this is just a generalization, you will find in many sources that different dislocations are possible because they do exist (such as the one mentioned in harrison's)

homocystinosis_ has mental retardation,lower n nasal subluxation of lens also which differentiate it from marfans syndrome
