Smile The Two MEN

Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia

MEN I is 3 P's (Pituitary, Parathyroid, Pancreas).

MEN II is
2 C's (Catecholamines ie. pheochromocytome, carcinoma of medulla of thyroid)

and Parathyroid (IIa) or Mucocutaneous neuromas (IIb).

Default Another mnemonic for MEN

Hmm - i like the UW one too:

Men 1 - 3 Ps - Pituitary (increased Ca++,) Parathyroid (increased prolactin,) Pancreas (increased gastrin)

Men 2a - 1M / 2Ps - Medullary carcinoma of Thyroid (increased calcitonin,) Pheochromocytoma, Parathyroid

Men 2b - 2Ms / 1P - Medullary carcinoma of Thyroid (increased calcitonin,) Pheochromocytoma, Marfanoid Habitus / Mucosal Neuromas

Yup -

Unless i magically somehow find a way for the pituitary to start making parathyroid hormone instead of the parathyroid..

I should think before I type Thanks for the correction...
