Virus An easy RNA and DNA viral structure mnemonic

I found First Aid lacking on good memory tools for remembering viral structures, and its an intense chunk of rote learning without a good one, so this is what worked for me, write it all out a few times and it will stick!

RNA Viruses:

Naked icosahedral: Red Hot Californian Peppers
-Calicivirus (with 2 n's in "californian" to remember "norovirus")
-Picornavirus (with PERCH as in FA)

Enveloped icosahedral: Retro Flavoured Togas
-Togavirus (you WEaR a toga..Western eq, Eastern eq, Rubella)

All the icosahedral are positive sense single strand, except "Reo the weirdo" Reovirus which is double standed.

Helical viruses, ALL enveloped: COP! Rhabdo, Filo BAD!
-Filovirus (Marburg/Ebola often Fatal)
-Bunyavirus (Crappy Sandals Can Hurt (think bunions on feet) - Californian encephalitis, Sandfly/riftvalley fevers, crimean-congo fever, hantavirus)
-Arenavirus (Lassavirus lassoing in a cowboy Arena)

All the helical viruses are linear, except for Bunya, Arena and Delta in the circle of BADness

Corona virus is positive sense, the rest of helical viruses are negative sense "its all negative once the beer (corona) runs out

For the DNA viruses I found the "SHH it's NAP time for PARVO" mnemonic useful (search it on youtube, firecracker video)

...and always write out hepadna, polyoma, papilloma inside a circle to remember their circular structure

Good luck!
