The USMLE Marathon
It's a long way, all the way, to the USMLE Residency and it's a blessing indeed that we are in a virtual era where we can find people to walk along with us, on similar journeys, all through a 15 inch screen.
I , myself , am preparing for the USMLE Step 1 , due on April 14th which is around 44 days away from the time of typing this post.
I haven't started preparing yet.
I am going to 4 hours from now.
I know I sound crazy.
I know half of you may have exited my post by now. After all, you are here to get some assistance. Not to read the post of a seemingly raving mad lunatic.
Trust me, I am not. Due to unusual circumstances and mistakes in planning on my part, I just have 44 days to prepare for my exam.
How am I going to do that?
That's where you come in, my friend. Thanks for patiently reaching until this length of the post.
I am going to read like crazy. I know it is easier said than done.
So, I am going to prepare a journal, including my schedule , my study time and the topics I am going to read for a particular day.
Knowing that someone out there might read this and brush it off as impossible kindles the energy in me to go raring after a challenge.
It'll push me further to read.
That's the point of my lengthy post. Sadly, being precise is not one of my finer points.
Anyway, coming to the point , I'll let you know what my schedule is, for today;
starting from 8am and ending at 12am, I am going to read
1) Cell Injury (Goljan)
5) Vascular Disorders(Goljan)
6)Heart Disorders (Goljan)
This may or may not be possible.
If it isn't done, then there is no harm to anyone (I'll finish atleast some topics) and if it is done , God willing , then I might be offering hope to all those people out there who believe that one needs many months of preparation, hope that it is indeed possible, to read for Step 1 in around 2 months.
If you must know, I am an International Medical Graduate and was an average performer in medical school.
