Default Serious online study partner needed who's aiming 260+ and no time wasters please.

Hi,

This is going to be a highly specific post but then again good things are hard to achieve without a well laid out plan

I prefer a study partner to discuss important and difficult concepts with. Discussion also brings out weakness in one that would initially not be apparent, and those weaknesses can be worked upon. I would not like to read through first aid line by line with sp for the sake of time. Uworld, Kaplan and Goljan are all available on demand. Definitely using a system based approach for anatomy/path/physio rather than the traditional old school inefficient subject based. For those non system based subjects such as Micro/Immuno, Biochem etc I plan on taking them on after finishing system based first read. So far I have done a rough read of all the systems except repro, hemato and musculoskeletal so basically I'm looking for a sp who would be willing to start those three systems with me within a few days and take approximately 1 week (give or take few days)to finish each.

I use FA as a guide and will occasionally dive into kaplan anatomy/physio and Goljan for difficult and high yield topics from which we are likely to get in depth questions in step 1 (eg in Uworld u will find atleast three questions on the exact genetics of colon ca, 3 genes mutations for each of the 3 stages of colon ca progression being tested separately)

Leave a post or pm me if you are willing to join me. Btw, if you think step 1 prep is going to be one smooth sailing through rough seas then think again. From what I have heard from all my seniors who had been accepted in residency it is going to be one of the most difficult times in your life. I would leave some motivational quote here but too lazy to google up one. Just going to have to tough it out like a soldier.

Cheers.

hi,
I plan on taking the test at the end of JUly, and definitely need a serious partner as well. Personally, would love to do discussions and go through UWorld and FA again as well. let me know if you'd like to do this together.

Hey Dr. G,

I tried to message you before but looks like it did not go through. If by 2 blocks of UWorld you mean 2 systems or 2 subjects then thats definitely way too much, as I have already mentioned I havn't finished my first read yet. I would rather be doing UWorld of topics I'm studying and planned with sp eg if next week is for first read of reproductive block I would like the whole of next week UWorld for solving repro questions. I think you will be better off with someone who has finished everything and solving UWorld now tbh.

Hello, I really like the way you plan to study, im also not into reading a book line by line which I think is a waste of time. Im starting to study on the first of july when my internship (the 6th and last year of med school in my country) starts. Ill take the exam in the first half of 2017.

Being an intern and wasting my time on reading fa line by line sounds inefficient thats the main reason i liked your way.

I definitely prefer doing my first studying by myself to use the time efficiently. So, we set a certain time limit to finish a whole system or subject, say 8 days for hematology, and we finish it till the limit, then or within the 8 days we discuss the most important points as you said. This way its not gonna take a lot of time together.

So if you are interested ill be expecting your message.

Cant send a pm yet due to lack of sufficient number of posts.

I too think its counter productive. Ive been glancing at this forum time to time and this is the first time ive seen someone with a plan which I can apply. Im definitely in no condition to study 7/24 because of internship but ill use all the time available to study.

My whatsapp no +905549193109
Skype mert.avsever

As long as its productive I dont mind having more than 2 people or people coming in or out session to session and yeah im starting to study on the first of july.
