Heart Mitral Valve Prolapse Associations and Risk Factors

The boards usually tries to complicate diagnostic processing by presenting us with syndromes and associations that are usually far from our thinking.

Mitral valve prolapse is a very common heart lesion and it's the most common congenital valvular heart disease by far.

What's interesting about it is that it can be associated with several other conditions, here's the list
  • Marfan syndrome
  • Ehlers-Danlos syndrome
  • Fragile X syndrome
  • Graves' disease
  • Panic attacks (MVP SYNDROME/DYSAUTONOMIA) syndrome
  • Adult polycystic kidney disease
  • Pectus excavatum
