Don't worry, I've heard the same thing from countless other people who have written it... had the exact same feeling as yours when walking out of the exam. They ended up scoring close to their assessments. Take comfort in knowing that your assessments showed that you were ready for this exam. Nothing you can do now but relax and enjoy the summer for 3 weeks.

Default Just took my CK exam today

Oh My God!!!!that test was sooooo hard! I didnt have time to read any of the abstracts or drug add questions, I only marked answers randomly! I am soooo scared! I was really hoping for a 230 on this test.
If anyone is going to take it soon, please study all the diffent ways you can say one diagnosis, cause they use the most used ones! none of the options of Uworld are on the test, it soooooo hard!

I totally agree it was vague, and I truly had that sense of it doesn't depend on your studies it more depends on your ability to analyze common diseases with the most twisted weird unfamiliar presentations

I gave my exam on july 23rd and having the same feeling

Though i did well in UWSA(261) and NBME 6(256), I dont think step 2 ck scores will be close...Hoping for above 245

In my second block i had to answer abt 7 questions in 4minutes...jz randomly read through and picked the answers

Other blocks had hardly 5 minutes after completing the blocks.

Most of the questions i was struggling to choose between 2 answers

Hoping and praying for the best

All you guys with 250+ NBME/UWSA need to chill out. Maybe you guys are perfectionists or something and get pissed when two questions don't go your way but just trust your scores.

I had a mid 230 UWSA and yes the test was super hard I was guessing on every 3rd question between two choices but it's okay. That's CK.

Manu I have also similar experience as yours but what I have gathered is that ck scoring curve is lenient as compare to step 1 for e.g you need a stellar performance in your score report across all disciplines in step 1 where as check out the top notch profiles of these scores in ck which shows that we do have a greater margin of error as getting super high scores here doesn't ensure that you have stellar performance in all disciplines

268- performance profile http://bug-online.org/usmle-exp/step-2-ck/17856/

257- performance profile http://bug-online.org/usmle-exp/step-2-ck/18377/

I had almost exact experience in step 1 but in CK we also have one extra block so hopefully we all will score within the realm of our assessments.

I know its not the correct way of checking answers but I guess majority of wtf/stupid kind of questions get stuck in your mind which you can recall later.... and sometimes in the middle of sometime you are like **** I made another dumb mistake.....its a skewed way of doing it but it gives you an idea to what extend to you were having a bad day.

May be manu can recall every question

I could recall about 30-35.......these were the questions I got stuck on so I remeber them ............then u remeber the questions u were so sure of and then u realise when eating food, watching a movie ,or doing sumthing that u made a stupid mistake......ha....I have recollected 6 7 such questions ...I was marking abt. 10-14 each block.....similar to what I did on step 1 but on step 1 I had time to revise my block and on the second to I ended with like 6 to 8 marked questions...........
On ck I had time to revise only 3 4 blocks....the blocks I revised I ended with 6 to 8 marked......but rest alas ..I am not sure abt .....
I feel so scared........I think I made a lot of stupid mistakes.........on the 5 block I had 10 min n 10 q left.......I just read the question superficially n marked whatever seemed right
Ck is tuf.......very very tuf

That is correct.....had you taken your exam on 25 JULY i.e on Friday you would have got your score report on third wednesday but if you have taken on 26(sat)/27(sun)/28(mon) then you are getting result on fourth wednesday

I agree...in fact I felt that difficulty level of abstract block was less as compared to other blocks....may be giving us extra time to solve abstracts

Default hey guys

Could any of you who gave the exam recently say whether the concepts are like uworld. And will it be enough. I know question stems are long and time is not sufficient but I just want to know whether the concepts are similar to uworld. Especially for peads, obggyn and surgery. Will uworld suffice. Thanks. Any advice.

I would also like to know if the Uworld is sufficient for the content. I dont have a lot of time to read books and i cant really retain all the information. So I'm sticking to uworld but am worried that I'm missing out without reading a book in depth. Please let us know. Thank you

The only (post exam) advice I can give to you is this:

1)Know your U.W in and out( understanding of explanations and even question stem, how they construct
question, analyse and compare options in minimum possible time.

2)give 10 mins to abstract and add at the end of block and you would be able to nail it

3)manage your time well, always be on run and never linger on one question for long as it will screw your later easier question

4)manage a good night sleep as exam requires mental strength for 9 hrs so take a complete day off before exam day.

5)Try to avoid simple mistakes because other ****ed up Qs will impair your judgment

6)Lastly exam will try to shatter your confidence but fight it to the best of your abilities till last question.

7)According to most test takers exam is tough but scoring curve is lenient as even people with 270+ dose not have perfect performance profile in there score report, so margin of error is much bigger as compared to step1 plus they say, trust your nbme 4 and uwsa score

Keep studying hard and best of luck.

Default thanks

Really got no time to study books. Sticking with MTB 2 and uworld doing thoroughly. I just wanted reassurance that the content and concepts are similar to uworld esp for obg gyn, peads and surgery. Will uworld be enough. Thanks a lot for your detailed response and encouragement. Hope you nail this exam.☺

MTB2+3,treat it as one book + U.W = minimum possible prep material

Depending on your past academic background and clinical rotations other prep material can vary but here is what I would strongly suggest:

1 Go through kaplan surgery vignettes
2 OBY GYN kaplan book + video lectures are amazing
3 go through peds kaplan book (esp first 70 pages)
4 no need to go through Kaplan IM and Kaplan psychiatry L.Ns
5 Do UWSA ,NBME 4 AND FREE 150(free 150 will give you a very good idea of question length and its vagueness which closely mirror real deal)

And yes concepts are similar but they ask in twisted manner and usually give inferior answer choices as best possible answers which makes you feel that either you are tricked or you are missing something but again analysis and comparison of answer choices in min possible time is key to success

I totally agree with the post-exam feeling mentioned all above.
Just sit in the test center yesterday. And I am happy that I was able to sit in front of the screen to finish my exam. It is difficult for me. 60-70% of the questions were lengthy; 50-60% of the questions were vague, when you finished reading the question stem you don't know what to choose between two options; 20-30% of the questions I have almost no idea, of which after I went through the long stems. Worst things are I was keeping making silly mistakes on the easy Qs. Didn't have time to go back to review the marked questions, only could barely finish the whole block at the last second.....Originally, I thought I could be relaxed a little bit after this long-time CK preparation, but since the time I have done with my exam I cannot help not reminding myself about how badly I performed on the real deal. I am not aiming for an awesome score like many other ppls on this forum who would not give a smiling face if they don't get any scores higher than 240. I want a 230. But after my traumatized exam experience, I just want to pass.....
