Psyche Treating the depression phase of bipolar disorder

So a patient with previously diagnosed Bipolar disorder and who was on Lithium, stops the lithium because she feels she doesnt need it, Now she comes with signs of depression, How do we Treat??

basically, the question is asking how do we treat the Depressive part of the Bipolar disorder .... I thought SSRI, but looking in the internet it seems its LITHIUM ... !!!! even for depression, lithium is first choice!

could u confirm?????

Antidepressants can be used to treat depression in bipolar disorder, however a mood stabilizer must be started first in order to prevent the antidepressant from inducing a manic state.
