Thumbs Up Sudha 's Step 2 Ck Experience 226

Hello all,

Glad to write my experience here.

Many would cringe with my score but I feel happy and proud.

To start with I started preparing for Ck after a long gap from step 1 .It certainly was not a cake walk. I prepared for the exam with a 3 month old baby with only my husband to help in weekends. So my schedules were not very strict, had to find time between nappy changes and feeding .Only thing that kept me going was a strong determination and my baby’s magical smile.

Total preparation time - 3 and half months
Materials used:
MTB Step 2 CK,
MTB step 3
Usmle world – Q Bank

My assessment scores
Usmle world – 66% first time,( REVISED 3-4 TIMES)
NBME 4-214 8 wks. before
NBME 7 -200 7 wks. before
NBME 6 - 248 4 wks. before
Free 150 75 %
UWSA- 4 days before 224
Real Exam CK score 226 ( UWSA was the predictor for me).

The I pad version of u world helped a lot to revise during the last weeks. I revised most of the u world rocking my baby in bouncer. Not an exaggeration but true. Hope this would be an inspiration for moms who are preparing for usmle.
I gave all the NBMEs between 2.00 am – 7.00 am when my baby was asleep. A day before the exam went for a long jog in order to be physically fit to face the big challenge ahead. That quite helped me to calm my nerves and get a good night’s sleep.I do feel working out is very important to preserve sanity during these stressful exams .I get anxiety attacks during exams to the extent of crippling me altogether. But this time I was prepared mentally and physically for the battle.
Exam day
Only thing we compete is the time. The trick is to think very fast, pick up only the necessary details from the given question and not to ponder too much over one question.I did the drug ads and abstracts at the end.
Just finishing all the questions without missing out any is itself an accomplishment.I took breaks after every 2 blocks, I just wished for more break times and really wish ECFMG could allot some time for nursing mothers.
Key is to fight till the end no matter what happens.

I was elated after seeing my results I am happy to have passed and I feel proud and accomplished today.
Last but not the least- Tamta in this forum was a great inspiration to me, I should really thank her.
Secondly Veros notes ( see Veros experience.) was helpful to revise at the last minute.

I cherish my preparation journey and all the tough times I had.
These usmle exams made me tough as a person ready to face any challenges.

My best wishes to all those preparing and waiting for results.

I would be Happy to answer any queries.

Hi thanks..Revising u world does take lots of time..Here are my 2 cents

1 st round- random blocks (about 51)

2nd round- subject wise

Third round- marked and wrong ones

Fourth round- Topic wise ,suppose you are weak in SIADH concept,
Go to utilities, search by keywords ,enter the topic,do all the ques in that topic.

Hope i am clear
All the best for your exam

Thumbs Up Congratulations !

Congrats on your achievement !!

To study for a hard exam like USMLE itself is challenging. To do it with a baby is a different level of difficulty & the feeling of guilt about not spending time with the baby making it worse ! While most moms are fighting sleep deprivation & physical exhaustion , you didn't let it come in your way !

My hat is off to you and all moms preparing for this exam.

You deserve to be proud !

Now go & enjoy your time with your bundle of joy

Default hi sudha

I'm a mom of 9 month old. myself preparing for ck. Giving it in a few days your story is an inspiration. Could you help me whether I should revise MTB 2 and 3 or stick to u world revisions till the end. And alsoe were the questions in the real exam similar to uworld or tougher. Will uworld be enough for pscyh, biostats and surgery. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi...I would advise you to stick to u world in the last few days ..Do only the marked and the ones we always go wrong..The exam is very similiar to u world the same concepts are being tested but in a twisted way...Yes u world is enough for all the subjects you mentioned ...The day before do the tutorial q and revise biostats formulas...All the very best

How did you feel coming out of the exam?

Did u feel like you failed, passed but not sure of score or pass comfortably?

Our scores are very similar would be really happy to score a 225 the way I was feeling walking out of the prometric center

Congrats once again

Coming out of the exam i knew i would pass but not sure about the scores. The next day i had realized that i had marked some very simple questions wrong which did haunt me a lot .So i guess there is always an unpredictability factor.Only thing we can rely is on our assessments .
So Better to focus on other things and forget, otherwise the 3 weeks of wait would become tough.

All the Best for your results.
