Default August 20th, 2014; Step 2CK Exam Results Thread

Anyone know what the timeline of the last few weeks results were? Like:
Tests from: July 9-16 released on August 6th
Tests from: July 17-24 on August 13th
Tests from: July 25-28 (30?) on August 20th... etc?
I'm guessing/estimating here, anyone have any better idea?
I took the test on 7-28 so i'm guessing I'll be 8/20 reporting either way but i've been hearing about longer than usual reporting in july/aug.
Anyways good luck to all!

I just spoke with ECFMG they told me exactly this:
25-28 ( including whoever took it on the 28th)--------> results would be on the 20th of august

anyone after the 28th ( 29- 30)---> expect it on the 24th of sep

some people have been getting it by 10:00 am eastern, link should disappear on monday or tuesday before you get your results. but someone noted the link may disappear 15~ days after you take the test regardless of when your results are going to come. ex; if you took your test after 7/28 and there is the possible delay till sept 24th for your score reporting your link might disappear after the said 15th day or so but that doesn't mean that your going to get your result sooner.
tl;dr, link disappearing isn't a guarantee, it might happen Monday if your expecting results on Wed

Isn't 2 months a good amount? Anymore and I imagine you would be pretty saturated. I'm a US IMG from Caribs, any more than 4 weeks is bad for us we would have to temporarily withdraw

i am an img from india ...... for u one month is good enuf since u rotate in the states and see similar disease profile and management there

for me , I saw a lot of TB, dengue , malaria,, leprosy ...mostly ID in my med school ...........also the management varies a lot .....with management here being a shotgun approach , coz of the load of patient, lack of infrastructure .....

other non carb imgs take 4 -5 months ....... although my assesments were ok ....i kind of rushed it by non us img standards

I see uS programs don't give you a hard time with regards to how long you spend prepping or do you have to report those as months off and explain the gaps? Also, in terms of ID I don't think anyone in the US has seen donavaniosis or tularemia before i would imagine that you see a decent amount of DM HtN CHf etc that's the real money on usmle. And hospitals in the us use a shotgun approach as well maybe not as much as they do elsewhere. I would guess pharm might be harder to prepare for a fMG but at the end of the day I spent 4 weeks doing uworld and the clinical experience really only helped in terms of the common diseases to manage.
What would you say "a lot" of leprosy is? Like I prolly saw 50 lap choles in surg.. When I did Hospital IM I saw a lot of pancreatitis copd htn urgency. Etc. Occasionally I saw a drug over dose or syphillis. I find it hard to see how people can justify 6 months away from school to prep for a test when the compitition is using the Same resources with 1 mo> I'm sure there Are differences in curricula but does the long prep time end up hurting a lot of FMGs and stopping then from doing more competitive programs? Like do FMGs who take less than 1 month have a eAsier time matching more competitively? I've seen charting outcomes lists time away from program/gaps that seems to hurt.. Is that what they mean for studying for boards?

Well i could tell u what people from my med school do ....... after med school we have 1 year of rotatory internship which is like a TY..........n its hectic sometimes upto 80-90 hrs a week....we take step 1 while internship and since most of us have forgotten all basic sciences its a hard grind ..... then we take like two months off after our graduation n give CK....so we don't really have any gap to explain .............
also Indian love to match into IM, paeds since these are highly competitive in India (surgery , ent, opthal are the easiest to get)......... so I haven't seen any India aiming for ENT.... so the question of competitive specialty doesn't arise
Yes we see a lot of DM, Htn , CHF but the management is utterly different....like while i was rotating in an american hospital I was quite amazed at the investigative tools they have...in an Indian setting imagine a patient of ??CHF waiting for an echo for 2 months in a public hospital (most med schools are public), since there are just 6 cardiology fellows and 4 cardiology attending to a population of above 2 million ..........so we read it in the books but its difficult to practice medicine that way coz the books have been written keeping in mind the western standards ....its difficult to explain but its very different ............
so sometimes a non us IMG may need more time than a carb grad/us student coz we have been trained in a different way and a lot of that needs to be rewired so as to answer correctly on USMLE

I can appreciate those differences I hope I don't sound too judgemental my sister went to India she's practicing IM in the states now. Why not give step one before internship? I just imagine from the PDs I've talked to they don't like seeing gaps and stuff, and they expect someone to come to the Us program and perform so when you cite these reasons for needing extra time it seems like a red flag to me. I know most programs wil have a 1-2 day Emr trAining I've never used epic but I have used cerner.. I'm not going to get extra time to learn epic do you are what I'm saying? I can understand what's competitive in India is different but I don't see many FMGs matching plastics and I thought that might be something to do with perceived competition, I know Carib students with 250+ try to get into competitive residencies but only when they have spent reasonable time in the prep because I don't think PD will give 260 after 6 month prep same credit.

If you're trying to match in US then why mention what's competitive in India I'm confused the have good data showing scores etc for these groups. And the compensation is prolly different too. When u said 2 months that seems okay, 4-5 months like u said is normal for step 2 sounds like it would need to be explained as a gap.

Y not take step 1 before finishing internship
......
My 4th year exams ended on 23 December and I had to start with my internship on 1st January , no exceptions , or get a 2 month rotation repeat leading to delay in your diploma.........so its just better to prepare in internship.
Even i don't think that preparing for 6 months sitting at home is the right thing to do ..........
Most indian Imgs dont apply to competitive residencies coz ,We know getting into something like plastics with visa issues is extremely difficult.

Below my score report it says that I am qualified for Ecfmg certification and they will send it to me in 2 weeks. I already submitted all the forms like, cert of identi and med school credentials. So check it on oasis or submit all the forms whichever applies to you. Hope that helps.

Default Got mine too!

Thought I'd post cuz of how much i kept coming on this forum
took exam on JULY 28TH

Study time
: Since Feb (took Cs in there so maybe 1 month extra)
Study Material: MTB 2 and 3, Uworld Qbank, and Secrets(best book to review)

I'm a US IMG applying to psych so my decent scores will hopefully get me into a great psych program

Step 1 Score: 227 (Happy but def room for improvement) in Dec

Step 2 ck Score: 241 (Really happy, but still always wish for better!)

nbme2-350-206 (took in May to see where i stand)
nbme4-450-227(improvement, heading in the right direction) June 27h
nbme6-380-212(wtf happened, made so many silly mistakes) July 9th
nbme7-390-237(Yes! read better and not be stupid/cocky) July 22

I took UWSA in there somewhere too and got i think 230

Thanks guys! And good luck to the rest of you! Don't keep doing score assessment or "if I do this or that" will I have a better chance of getting in. That's a killer and just one thing at a time and study efficiently not a lot!

So as soon as your results come out of CK, you are certified as long as you had all your documents submitted and verified before the results.
It takes 2 weeks as you said for them to send it to you... But does it appear on your ERAS application right away? Don't have to wait 2 weeks for that though right?

Ill be giving my exam in a few days and wanted an estimatef rom you guys as to approx. how many per block did you guys feel you were getting wrong?

Also, what was your strategy for breaks? did you guys take a break after each block? is there sufficient time for a break after block?

Last 3 weeks just started building up concentration by doing uworld blocks like 4 at a time. Last week just reviewed secrets and not taking it too hard. Also went over flash cards and notes I made. For me the biggest problem was making mistakes by not paying attention, I realised this when I reviewed my nbme and no one else got got together ones wrong I had, then I picked up what I did wrong. Keep it up! You're almost there!!

No. Its not a good predictor. Most people score around 88-90% on them. The only good predictors are NBME and UWSA.

Took it July 28, got results August 20. Got the exact same score as the UWSA that I took 2 weeks prior to the test predicted.

I didn't even realize there were 8 sections until I started the test. I thought it was 7 like step 1. So I just took them when I needed them. I think I did 2/1/2/1/1/1.

You shouldn't even be online right now reading this stuff. You should be relaxing your mind maybe watching a movie or something. Take it easy and good luck on your exam.
p.s. Most ppl mark about 10 5 on their exam.

I marked about 15 per section. Don't base what you do on what I did or what anyone else does though. I marked anything that I wasn't completely sure about, and some people only mark ones that they are totally guessing on. Do what works for you, but most importantly, don't waste a lot of time on it. I finished each section easily, but hardly ever had time to go back and recheck everything I marked.

You'll be fine. Just get some rest and try to stay as calm as possible. That's interesting, I got exactly a 244 on my step 1 also.

Received a shipment confirmation from ECFMG today. It says that it should arrive within a day or two! After receiving my score, I called them after 2 days to confirm that my file was updated and all my forms and documents were up to date. They said everything was in order and I should be receiving my ECFMG certificate in the mail within 10 days. They're right on time!!
