Question Meningitis in an alcoholic patient?

A 44 year old male accountant with a history of alcoholism present to your office with a fever of 38C , headache, photophobia and stiff neck. You think of bacterial meningitis and start antibiotics quickly. If you later find out that the patient is neutropenic , which is the most likely organism to cause this bacterial meningitis?

A. group B strep
B. S. Aureus
C. H. Influenza
D. S. Pneumonia
E. L. Monocytogenes

Yes u are right answer is E. Listeria meningitis occurs in only a fraction of patients with meningitis and seen in alcoholics, cancer patients, the elderly, and immunocompromised.
