Default Worried about my preparation for Step 2. Need help please.

Hi.
I am going really slow with my preparation and im not even satisfied. i have gone through kaplan notes and videos. and am currently doing uworld. tutor mode. it seems that i have yet a lot to learn. and there are many things in uworld that are new to me even though i have gone through the lecture notes. are the lecture notes really enough?....my score too is well below the average score..and doing the timed mode seems impossible, as i feel there is too less time..i know that simulates the real exam and all, but i can't seem to do it timed.and correct.

Does that happen with aybody else too?.. or is my preparation too poor?
can anybody please suggest something that might help.

Thanks.

Hey Jabeen
im in the same situation as you are...i did the kaplan videos really quickly and am going through Uworld with MTB 2/3....and its going very very slow.i barely manage to do 25-30 questions a day.But i feel that is the case cause my knowledge of the subject is very weak so it will take time.Going through the explanations takes me the most time, but if you do it properly like if a question comes for example about fetal demise/abortion from Obs - i go to the MTB 2/3 part and read all of it nicely making mnemonics etc....and so next time a similar question comes i get it right or atleast my attempt at trying to get it right is steeped in more knowledge about that topic....so i think if we keep doing it that way then eventually our knowledge and concepts will get stronger, therefore increasing our scores.

as of now im doing uworld in Timed,Subject wise 10 questions at a time so its like a full thorough revision of an entire subject and not a run through like the videos were.
i dont know if our preparation is poor or not but this method worked for me for Step1 and im hoping it does for CK as well.

Good luck.

Thank you samren17,

It helped to know that i'm not the only one..i think that the technique you're opting is good. plus everyone has their own way of studying and all..some people go through a 100 or 100+ questions a day..their pace got me thinking and i got really worried.but i cant do that..i myself go through about a similar no. of questions a day and it takes me time to read through the explanations, but they help me..so i think its okay to continue this way..and if this technique did help you in step 1 too, then that gives me some hope too.

Thanks.

I think i learn a lot more in the tutor mode as I'm able to see the explanation right away when the question is fresh in my mind as opposed to reviewing the answers later which takes additional time.
It takes me 4-5 hours to finish one block in tutor mode.
After finishing about 30% of uworld like this, now I'm thinking of switching to timed mode. I guess whatever works for an individual.

And no, by no means, you are alone.
