Heart prophylaxis for Infective endocarditis, need simple explanation

prophylaxis for Infective endocarditis look at difference in kaplan notes

PEDIATRIC page 140

Internal medicine page 225


for god sake any one can explain

for example in kaplan pediatric they said give prophylaxis for cystoscopy and prostatic surgery

but in Internal medicine they says no need for prophylaxis for previous two procedure

what about rigid bronchoscopy in kaplan they say no need page 225

in MTB PAGE 32 ,,,,, flexibel bronchoscopy even with biopsy .

Hey Kemoo, I did a research about that fact and I found data that supports what it says in MTB.

There is no indication for prophylaxis in ENDOSCOPY (GI tract), but it is indicated when BRONCHOSCOPY ( respiratory tract) includes incision or biopsy of respiratory mucosa. Therefore, if you do bronchoscopy and you don't do any biopsy, you should not give prophylaxis.

in MTB they said flexible bronchoscopy even with biopsy>> no need for prophylaxis

but not sure about rigid bronchoscopy
