Dominican Republic Can some one please explained why the answer is C

The crude mortality rate for coronary artery disease in Community A is twice the crude mortality rate for coronary artery disease in Community B. The age-standardized mortality rates for coronary artery disease in the two communities are the same. These findings are most consistent with which of the following inferences?

A) Coronary artery disease mortality in the elderly is higher in Community A than Community B
B) Coronary artery disease mortality in young adults is higher in Community A than Community B
C) The population of Community B is younger than the population of Community A
D) The proportionate mortality from coronary artery disease is higher in Community A than Community B
E) The two communities have similar age distributions

C

population A has more people dying.
crude mortality means the total number of deaths.
age specific means in a certain age group.
if two communities have same age specific mortality ....yet one of them has a higher crude mortality....it means that the one with higher crude mentality has more number of people dying combined. the only way for that to happen is if they have more older people.
as age related mortality is higher in older people than younger ones. but they are similar in both communities.
i hope that explained it. just think about it for a minute.

I 'll give you an example.

Population A has 100 people dying of coronary artery disease every year. population B has 50 people dying from it.

if we go to age specific.... let's say that in population A in the age range of 60-70 year old people who died, 35/70 people who died did it from coronary artery disease. that comes to 50%.
In population B, 10 of 20 people died of coronary artery disease. that comes to 50% also. hence age specific being the same.
but crude being higher as there are more people.

do you understand?
