Default CK experience! A quick read

I with held writing since I didn't know what to expect, but the scores are out and I passed. I didn't excel as most on the forum, but I was above my step 1 score and above avg.
I lasted 3 months studying and I have to say, if you know your step 1 you will be great in Ck. I slacked with CK since I was a bit tired coming out of step 1, but just keep going.
IT IS NOT HARD OR NOTHING OUT OF THIS WORLD. I had 2 weeks bumped out with 0 fuel when I read forums saying "This is the hardest thing ever after the change" or "I say things I have never seen it is tough!". Please, my advice to you is, once you read a negative comment on a post CLOSE THE TAB AND STOP READING IT, it frustrated me.
My recommendations are, study uworld 2 or even 3 times IT IS KEY, about 90% of the exam has that principal. Study Conrad Fischer 20 cases, again EXCELLENT tool for auscultation, EKG and more. And finally don't invest to much time in MTB, if I could take one and do I over again would be this, quick read MTB 1 or 2 times, QUICK READ means read the whole book with in 2 or 3 days and invest more time in uworld/20 cases.
Study and relax, the exam is not hard, it's manageable and you will do great!

@doc007 more than you think. While studying uworld you will notice that most principals will pass on. If you just take a moment and breath, you will notice the similarity.

BTW the closest to my actual score was Uworld Self Assesment, 2 weeks out gave me 7 points less than my actual score. NBME 7 taken 2 months out with 30 points less than actual score. USMLE free avg. 90% 1 week out.

So, uworld covers the step one info or is there something you recommend reading from FA? like, I know, the paeds immunology section has a lot of step one info about the antibodies. Biostat, ehics and psych.
But, other than that is there anything i should brush up on?

Thank you!

Depends how far out have you taken your step 1 and your score. If you have the information fresh, than no, there is no need to touch FA. If you're a little iffy than keep it close so you can read a topic if necessary.
I would recommend reading the psych section if you are starting now, step 2 touch it a lot and it is not well covered in MTB.
Like I said uworld covers the exam, read the description and explanations, if you are not in a rush to take it, get world for 4-6 months.

CONGRATULATIONs

thanks for mentioning that '' don't read those Negative posts about how tough exam is , it has Scared the Hell out of me to be honest''

i ve been slacking in CK aswell & its been 7 months since step-1

on one hand it seems so hard reading FA step-1 Book again for Ck ,,
so i am wondering How much CK exam involved step-1?
((brucella & fransicella etc bacterias? & pathways or enzyme names from those pathways of heme synthesis?))

i am redoing CK, + MTB ---- did you d kaplan qbank? should we do it late in prep after UW? :/ man i am just afraid :s

Never touched Kaplan, nor their books. I know of 3 people who used kaplan as a single qbank and their scores were not good (barely passed or very low).
I believe step 1 plays a huge role, not mechanism, but concept. Example, lets say Asprin. they could ask about asprin, but the answer could be "blocks arachidonic acid" or "irreversibly inhibits COX-1", these are principals of step 1.

Thanks tons! You have no idea how negative comments are impacting me. I have my exam soon. I am about to take my UWSA. have done UW and MTBs only and everyone's been scaring the hell out of me saying how these resources are not enough to prepare. :/

I was studying "slower"than when I did Step 1. I lasted exactly 3 months minus 2 weeks i felt like crap reading forums, so 2.5m. BUT every one is different, don't concentrate on time schedule if not on amount of time done uworld. I did uworld 1.5 times, I didn't complete my second round and i managed to get a higher score than my step 1.
So far from what I've seen and heard 1-2 times world = +or- step 1 score. If you want a much higher score from your step 1, then do uworld 3 times (which I recommend).

@hope2015 definitely! If you have a nice schedule to study it is enough time. make sure to hit 2 block a day and you will reach your goal.

@Oncology_freak again STAY AWAAAAAY! I took my exam 2 weeks after my friend got his score, after I saw he passed and (not to sound cocky) I was better than him, my prospective changed, I was happier than I was doing great. avoid downers.

@Diamond Like I mentioned at the start Uworld! I don't know if they use background subliminal messages, but every one (who I know) that has used it passes. Use it, learn it, understand it, do not memorized it. FA step 1 for psych section it is high yield. MTB3 for Gyn and peds high yield (read 2 or 3 times). MTB2 everything else 1 or 2 times. Uworld 3 times.
