Unhappy Urgent advice needed !!!

What's up everybody ?
I've just _FINALLY_ finished the first read of Kaplan notes & 1st aid + offline UW , it took me so long to be honest _almost 8 months to be precise _ to finish the first read , since I'm taking CK before step 1 so I had to search for a lot of stuff outside kaplan to help me understand certain things that were not clear , plus the offline UW is unbelievably time consuming .
NOW THE PROBLEM
I feel like I don't remember squat , actually I don't remember sh*t , plus I've got so tired & exhausted to the point that I just wanna get it over with with any score , but when I come to my senses _ sometimes _ I don't wanna throw what I did down the drain , SO MY QUESTION IS ; Do I read kaplan & 1st aid again before starting my 2 months subscription on UW , or just go straight to online UW & revise my materials while doing the qbank ??

Thank you for your time, any advice is really appreciated .

Do questions. They will help you to recall most of the high yield concepts. That feeling of don't remembering things is normal and the only way to thwart that feeling is doing questions, tons of questions....

Good luck

appreciate your response .
so you think reading those books again is not a necessary step to do before starting working om the online qbank ?
cause I hate to admit , although I feel that it'll make a big difference in my performance to read them before the Qs I don't think I have any energy left to do it.

hey youssinmed!
I was in the same boat as yours! I finished my 1st kaplan read in 2 months and then wanted to start Uworld. Then i thought like i don't remember anything at all and was scared to start a qbank and then did a second read of KLN which took 15 days. Just the notes, no videos no reference where i reviewed especially the highlighted points from the 1st read. When i was reading second time also, i felt that many points were missed the 1st time when i read.
So my advise is go for a SECOND read of KLN before starting uworld, and especially in ur case because you took 8 mths for the 1st read, you might miss some very important points that you read 8mths ago. You will feel confident with the uworld qbank once you read again. I am doing uworld now and have an average of 71% with 50% remaining. I don't know how this score is but it gave me confidence. Then while doing uworld qbank, you can know your weak areas in the analysis sections and you can even give a third read of KLN or MTB or First aid for those sections where you are bad.

Hope this helps.!

I am not at that place now since i have not finished single reading of all subject but i often feel i forgot so many thing. But exam is not about writing theory so if u know concept u can apply. So dont worry.

No one will remember everything. To remember important points multiple revisions are required. Since you spend so long on 1st reading u already had base ready. Give subsequent reading quickly and do kaplan q bank(if u think u are not ready for uw online now) for it is also considered good( check poll results). And keep uw for last since u have already done uw offline.

Thats my 2cents but consider what you will be comfortable with and do write exam when you are ready and confident. You can take nbme form to know your weak areas and to know where you stand.

my best advice in ur case is to do questions see ur level. As questionx in gerenral for this exam ask general facts and general knowledge, not that type of recalling thing. Then i advice u to do last revision for FA before ur exam, you will find it much helpful in the exam.

Thank you all for replying , I guess I'm gonna buy MTB tomorrow & start reading it alongside Kaplan & 1st Aid again ,then start UW & do another read with taking notes + offline UW again , although I'm really tired & bored to death but it looks like this is the best way to go if I wanna get a good score, so probably I'l be done with the CK in another 3 months which will bring the total time to 11 months, One last question plz, where did I go wrong ????

Again , thank you all for your support.

To buy MTB is an excellent idea, it gives a lot of high yield information specially in Internal Medicine, for Peds and ObGyn read Kaplan. However, I insist that we are preparing for an exam which has questions. Therefore, the best way to train for this is practicing questions. The more questions you do, the more scenarios you will recall in your test. After you do a question bank you have to review the topics related to the questions you saw in that bank, doing that process is when you learn the concept, because you remember why you fail in a specific question.

Good luck, and all the best.

Just as miss_patho said, it will take 2-3 weeks depending of how much time you study per day. IM is very good.
