some book says mastitis is not contraindication to breast feeding since it is better for the mother and some says it is since it is not good to the kid. which is right?

continue breastfeeding is the right answer. even if she is treated with antibiotics and enter the breast milk in very small doses....could affect the baby but these effects are not important and stop after medicication is finished

Breast feeding is GOOD and it must be encouraged since that will heal it faster, and what possible problem can it cause in the infant? after all, the bacteria will be entering the GIT where they will be destroyed in the stomach anyway and staph aureus (causing the mastitis) does not do much harm until its in the blood. The point to note is that we are treating the mother with antibiotics, so the bacterial load will go down in the meantime.
