Smile Couldn't believe my CK score 99/271!!

I would like to start by thanking this forum, its administration, and all the members. Your help was invaluable.

I just got my CK score today, 99/271, which was absolutely unexpected, not only did I feel I missed a lot of the question, but the electricity went off while I was in the middle of the fifth block for 3.5 hours!! so instead of 9 hours, my exam took 12 hours. (Thank you God for everything)

My study plan was based on what was posted on this forum:
-2 months: (went over the kaplans, except for pediatrics which I read from blueprints)
-2 months: (read FA, and reviewed it once)
-2 months: (UW with extensive note taking, and reviewing FA one more time while doing so)

My UW average was 79%
The UW self-ass. score was 266

Wish you all luck in your exams.

wow.....congratulations.. greattt score...
I thought FA has all superficial but important points ie just to review quickly at last....so you have not done mtb and kap videos at all??
Do you think step 1 knowledge is required i mean concepts re: pathophy, micro etc??

So what you did for 3.5 hrs ..did they allow to review books...but it might made you so tired and fatigue..but you manage to get awsome score. Congrats once again.

Save It! Re.

Thank you all.

- One imporatnat thing to point out is that the kaplans and FA are great reviews, but are not the background one must build his knowledge on, my sixth year study for the finals was the main basis.

- FA points out the most important testing points one should memorise by heart, so as much as you go over it and review its tables and side notes, as much as your score goes up.

- I only watched the Kaplan Epidemiology and Statistics videos, they were very helpfull in understanding it's principles, since I'm an IMG, and didn't go over it very well in med school.

- I haven't done my Step 1 yet, and didn't face any basic science related problems in the exam, but I did go over the basics of neuroanatomy, which was of great deal of help in the UW prep, and the real exam.

- Actualy, we didn't get to exit the testing room, because as the power was out, the hand print device was not functioning, and were not able to let us out... yeah, 3,5 hours sitting on the same chair!!

Good luck all.

I am an IMG as well and i read kaplan notes and forget all what i read as i close the book so for me i guess it will be better if i spend the 2 month of reading kaplan in reading a review book one more time and memorizing the important points.the thing is I am really confused about using which review book.everyone says mtb ck is the best but i can see its very deficient in info(but have a good way in presrnting the info) on the other hand first aid and mtb3 are much more comprehensive.
i really would appreciate ur opinion on the subject

I really cant compair those books, as i haven't read or even looked at MTB. But I guess they wont be that much different.

From my experiance, and from that of my colleagues, FA have been proven to be a reliable comprehensive review if studied well with questions.

Wish you luck
