Question mtb 2 vs mtb 3

I am an IMG aiming for a 99 and not ready to read kaplan lecture notes because i think there is too much info in them and by the time i finish one book i will forget what was written in its beginning so i am trying to find a comprehensive review book to read in addition to secrets step 2 and first aid cases and Q&A and kaplan Qbank and i will subscribe to usmle world.
i was wondering will mtb step 2ck be better than mtb step 3(most people say this) but i reviewed both books and it seems mtb step 2ck is missing too mucg info especially in peds(eg developmental milestones/child abuse) and obs/gyna(teratogens and others not to mention the gyna being 10 pages without mentioning anything about cervical cancer or ovarian cancer)
please help.......:confused :

kaplan is suggested by every one and i too feel that it has good concepts but not student reading friendly(since i feel everything is in bulk and so boring to read at a strech). But it is good book as a base. So start any chapter and keep mtb and first aid which ever you like and start reading by compairing chapter by chapter. If you still dont feel like studying kaplan then listen lecture and read book side by side. And when ever you have doubts you can return to your base book i,e kaplan.

Mtb 2 is considered for im and mtb3 for all rest of subjects. Goodluck.

so do u think mtb is better than fa or vice versa??
(i can see mtb is easy in reading but some of the guys who got 99s depended mainly on fa and said that most of the questions are in there and others say it is useless so i am very confused )
and by mtb in IM do u include the radiology and opthalmology and dermatology and preventive or just the internal medicine part
thanks for the reply

Yup i too have same doubt regarding FA so i posted my query in 99ers experience waiting for reply. I read only few topics in FA and felt that if you are very tharough with topics then you can skim topics quickly so you can feel completness and confident by able to turn all system in short period its like review book.

I think mtb 2 only for IM and i have not done other part so i dont know but reviews suggest all other topics you mentioned are good in mtb 3.

MTB is wonderfull in IM.it makes u know what is the next step and the exam questions included in between the explanation to show how u will be asked in the exam is great in helping you to understand.bad point is that it is very defective in other branches (obs and gyna / peds / sugery) u cant depend on it.If i have to choose one book i will go with first aid although the format is very hard and the book is loaded with info without explanation but i guess this u will get with usworld and reading the explanation for each question (most important in getting a good score and primary source of studying for some people) .If u can study from several sources then it will be MTB step 2 for IM and first aid or MTB step 3 for the rest of the branches.
and ofcourse if u can do kaplan that is definetly the best
