Default Step 2 ck experience

All glory to Lord JESUS CHRIST for everything he has done for me!!!!!!!

Preparation:

aim:i wanted to score more than step 1
Duration:4 months (with interruptions).I studied all days except on weekends.6-7 hrs per day.
Sources:mtb 2(IM),mtb 3 (fr remaining) kaplan videos for medicine, UWORLD
i started off with kaplan videos of medicine and with mtb i completed medicine.then i started with other subjects and completed each of them.after i month i started UW bank. Each week i divided into 2 halves,i did subject reading in first half and qbank in second half.Reading mtb many times helped me.I have done uw full once and incorrect for second time.I post poned my exam as i wasnt satisfied with UWSA (im not done with qbank by tht time).

Exam experience
It was a long day,and in each block i had 46 questions.Time management is most important.I didnot mark any q as i was not having time in first 2 blocks to review the marked q.so i stopped marking from 3 block.first 2 blocks were average.my 3,4 blocks were very tough (in 3 block i dont know about 20 q).i felt very depressed but again i took a break and prayed and told myself that i still have 3 blocks to rock.4,5 were average.i took a break in my seat itself.7 was minimally tough but i let it go and prayed hard that i should pass.HY subj in xam medicine, obs (i dont know it was HY but yes i got many q),emed, trauma, peds, ethics,PM and remaining.

Aftr exam was done i was not thinking about the exam. But i tell u guys then real battle started for me,i was so tensed that i didnt start for my next step preparation.I was extremely happy when i saw my score 231 yesterday.

Advice from my experience
1 Never give exam without full on prep
2 Dont believe NBME (may b it will work for u)
3 defnitely its a tough exam but doable
4 use assesments only fr seeing where u stand but not for score predictors
5 mtb,UWorld are still gold std (dont get carried away if anybdy says they r not)

Have you used Kaplan Q-bank for CS ? is it worth it - or you think UW is just enough? Thanks.

Thanks for the post. Great score! Congrats and AMEN! About SA, why do you say not to use as predictors? Could you share your scores? Thanks

yes i have used but not so useful, its just repetition of videos, mtbs.if you want to be thorough with mtbs u can go for it.i suggest going through UW once again in the same time rather on kaplan as i could relate the questions on the real exam similar to UW.The right choices in UW are the major distractors in the real deal.

Its not only from my experience but many of my friends.SA not so accurate for step 2 ck (extremely good for step 1).I had unnecessarily postponed my xam due to low score in SA.but then even 3 days before xam i got low score in NBME.but at that time i dont want to post pone and went ahead for it.

NBME 4:218 (2 months before exam)
NBME 7:212 (2 weeks before)
NBME 6:215 (3 days before)

So when waiting for results i was so tensed thinking i would fail the exam.AMEN ! i had passed.
