Neuro Alzheimer versus multi-infarct dementia!

does multi infarct dementia causes cognitive impairment? and whats the difference between dementia of alzhiemer and that of multi infarct?

Alzheimer’s dementia due to deposition of amyloid protein in the brain (Senile plaques) & neurofibrillary tangles, it is the most common cause of demenia in US.
Multi infarct demenia: the 2nd most common cause of dementia, caused by a number of small strokes or sometimes, one large stroke preceded or followed by other smaller strokes. Multi infarct demenia can cause cognitive impairment.
