This among the important causes of accelerated atherosclerosis: the order is not according the significance:
Hypertension
Diabetes
Obesity
Elevated cholesterol levels.
Familial hypercholesterolemia
Typically reported with vasculitis/collagen vascular disease, like Lupus.
Homocystinuria
Abdominal aorta is the most common site for atherosclerosis (no vasa vasorum).

Accelerated atherosclerosis is typically reported with vasculitis/collagen vascular disease, like Lupus.
Lupus is one of the causes of both vasculitis & connective tissues diseases, that is why is related to accelerated atherosclerosis.

another cause of accelerated atherosclerosis is nephrotic syndrome due to the associated hyperlipidemia and hypercoagulibility.

Nephrotic syndrome patients die 3 times more than MI than infection.
