Default Intraventricular hemorrhage.

Preterm baby, in the ICU, on day 3 of delivery, started to develop apnea, Weak sucking & Lethargy, you suspect intraventricular hemorrhage. The best diagnostic test to do is?
  • CT scan.
  • Ultrasound.
  • Lumber puncture.
  • Skull X ray.
  • MRI.

Ultrasound!
CT without contrast would also work but needs general anesthesia for babies, so I'd go with ultrasound first. If there's a doubt or inconclusive result, the next step would be the CT w/o contrast.

The correct answer is ultrasound.
U/S is the best test in preterm. CT is the best in term babies.
