Clock Management of Break Time during the CK Exam

HI,
I am just wondering that how many breaks/intervals a person should take during STEP 2 CK exam.

What duration it should be?

Any other suggestion how to maintain your ability to concentrate considering hypoglycemia which would occur during this?

All suggestions are welcomed.

Regards:

recently someone mentioned doing 3 tests at one go then taking off 10 mins and then another 2 tests and then lunch. how does this sound?

2 blocks
5 mins break (to bathroom perhaps)
1 blocks
10 mins break
2 blocks
lunch 20 mins
2 blocks
10 mins break
1 blocks

i actually planned the same for my step 1.......but u know wat i ended up taking a 5mins break after every block just to fight the terrible sleep i was getting.....so it totally depends upon ur mood on the exam day....

i had to rush in 5 mins after every block which gave me time to munch on some chocolate n drink n visit the bathroom too....to wash my face to prevent myself from dozing off.....

the same for me cos i had too much coffee before the exam. but the darn part was the damn bathroom location was so far by the time i got back what with signing out and in again, it was already 5 mins. so i didnt have time to munch on anything. and i had one short lunch break and no time before the exam started to relax and write my notes cos the invigilators only let me in at 9am when my exam was scheduled at 9am!!! to top it all off, the other GRE exam takers were chatting in that exam room!! i had to turn around to shush them like thrice! so much for throwing u off ur game. no idea how i passed!!!

moral of the story, pls make sure u find out about the place u are taking ur exam in.

Personally i did 5 minutes after each block because i would be thirsty and would need a drink of water and then id have to pee so would run to the bathroom for a quick potty break.

after the 4th block i took a 15 minute break quick break and lunch with the food i had in my locker( i brought myself a sandwhich and a bannana easy to eat and filling and no having to run outside looking for food)

For my step 1 I took a 5 min break after every block till the 3rd block. After the 4th block I took a 10-15 min lunch break. 10 min break after the 5th block and all the break time left after the 6th block. Taking a shorter lunch break really helped as I really needed the break time later as the questions got really tough in the last 3 blocks and left me quite exhausted. I washed my face, and ate chocolates in all the break times and drank a little bit of 5 hr energy in and after the lunch break.

I was wondering if I could apply the same strategy to ck? My main query is about the lunch break.. Shud I take it after the 4th or the 5th block, as for step1 I was adviced to do more blocks before lunch, since it can make u sleepy?
My exam starts at 7 am.

I will really appreciate all the advice. It will be helpful if someone who has already taken ck could answer.

total time is 1 hour but thats if u skip the whole first block otherwise its 45 minutes . like in step 1 they give u an introduction block for 15 minutes if u skip it it will add on to ur break time.

This is what I have thougt of as an ideal strategy.
5 mins break after every block upto the 5th block. 10-15 min lunch break after the 5th.
10 mins break after 6th and 7th block.
Eat high sugar biteables in every break before lunch break to sustain energy(chocolates, honey, fruits).

Please advice/comment

ok i had my ck a month ago.....My tips wud be to adjust ur computer screen and ur chair at a comfortable level before u start ur clock...i didnt do that n after first block, my shoulders were sore n stiff...!! lol

i started my tutorial, first slide in the tutorial was of checking the headph....i just did that, n after checking my headphones, i ended the tutorial...so it added 13-14 min to my break time....

i think best strategy wud be
2 blocks
5-8 min break
2 blocks
10 min break
1 block
20 min lunch break
1 block
5 min break
1 block
5 min break
last block

this still makes 50 min....so an additional 10 min are available as a safe measure

ok so i didnt have time to prepare myself before the exam, the invigilators didnt know if i could look at my book during my break time. so whilst i was having lunch they had to call and find out. then i looked at something real quick. i dun think ill be looking for step 2ck but step 1 had some stuff i needed from FA u know.

oh wait, when i shushed the invigilator, she looked at me furiously like i was being rude!!!!! and the continued to talk n talk. after the exam she apologized cos she didnt know i paid for the exam!!! (the other GRE exam takers were all sponsored students). so if i pay then i get special respect? sigh.....

anyways, for step 2ck i mite try thailand. anyone know anything about thailand? or brunei perhaps?

..... yeah that can be easily confused with an indian name.

after reading SHICE's experience im wondering now if my prometric center was the worst. the bathroom being so far and locked makes managing break time more difficult. why does step 2ck have one block more questions than step 1?

Do you have to always have to leave the computer during a break before going onto the next section or can you just sit in your chair and decide whether to move onto the next section after 5 minute "breather"?

Thanks in advance.
