Medicolegal and Ethics Patient doesn't want to know the diagnosis

Hi everyone,

What should the physician tell patient if he or she does not want to know about diagnosis?

Classic question: Patient does not want to know the results for biopsy if it is cancer.

What should the physician do?

Thanks

Ask why and discuss fear

If still refuses ask if he would like someone else to be his proxy ie "Is there someone you want me to tell who can make decisions for you?"

still refuses then i guess document refusal and let him go.
