Syringe Mantoux skin test negative after live virus vaccine!

Hi all:

Can someone please tell me why in people who recently received live-virus vaccines, skin test may be false-negative?

Thank you!

Can I give a tuberculin skin test (TST) on the same day as a dose of MMR vaccine? A TST can be applied before or on the same day that MMR vaccine is given. However, if MMR vaccine is given on the previous day or earlier, the TST should be delayed for at least one month. Live measles vaccine given prior to the application of a TST can reduce the reactivity of the skin test because of mild suppression of the immune system

Can TSTs Be Given To Persons Receiving Vaccinations?

Vaccination with live viruses may interfere with TST reactions. For persons scheduled to receive a TST, testing should be done as follows:
  • Either on the same day as vaccination with live-virus vaccine or 4-6 weeks after the administration of the live-virus vaccine
  • At least one month after smallpox vaccination

this was wat i found after some googling....
