Unhappy I suddenly realize why I got it wrong

Hello Everyone...
i'm really in a deep trouble and need some advice with it...lets start from the beginning..i am an IMG currently in my last year of med school and i decided to start with step 2ck first..so i've already went through kaplan LN for everything 2 times and i've read high yield psych 2 times... i've done UW 2 times...
i scheduled my eligibility period on Jan/Feb/March 2012...
the problem is that when i started solving the Qbank it was like a disaster..
in some blocks i'm getting like 8 mistakes and in other blocks 15+ and to be honest most of the are 15+ mistakes i've already did like 18 blocks...
whats happening is even though i'm getting those questions wrong but when i look at the right answer with out looking at the explanation i suddenly realize why this is the right answer and if only i focused a little more maybe i could have got it right...but still i'm not satisfied..
i really need your help as i dont know if this is normal or there is something wrong
i mean a lot of the people i know their average on The Qbank is between 10-12 and some of them are even getting below 10...
do i need to get over the books again ??!!
what should i do ??
Thanks in advance
Sam..

yes indeed in CK the answers do sound pretty close to each other.....and finally it depends on how well we understand the question....i was told by step takers that CK isnt going to be as crystal clear as step 1....hoping to see the response of step takers

yup you are right it's about a month thx ...

and this is what they said :

Once you purchase a self-assessment, you have 30 days to start it. After you start the self-assessment, you are given a 20-day administration period in which to complete it. For example, if you purchase an assessment on July 1st, you have until July 30th to start it. If you log in and start the self-assessment on July 15th, you have until August 3rd to finish it.

u have time to improve. do one block of 46 questions per day and review why u got them wrong. practice this everyday plus reviewing wrong answers. spend sats and sundays going through ur weak points either by reading KLN or UW notes or MTB. u still have plenty of time.

by early dec see where u are. if ure not satisfied plan the exam in feb. if not by feb, by march ull be excellent!!!

i have faith in u.

yup... have faith in urself. u can do it.

i plan for the exam in jan/feb/march too... we sail the same boat. my UW offline was averaging 65% but my kaplan qbank online (currently doing now) is averaging only 58%.

i havent given up. still doing questions everyday. one block at a time and reviewing. well sometimes i do two blocks depending on time availability and i have internship going on too.

we can help each other out. let me know ur progress...

@amykaur...Thx a lot dude for encouraging me..this is what i'm trying to do and what is really relieving my stress is that i still have time...wish me luck

@Seetal lets keep on touch man i believe we can ace it...as for my progress i am supposed to finish OB/GYN today last 30 pages of KLN tomorrow i'll move to Internal Medicine..what books are you using ?

@A_a_ if your exam is so soon try to postpone it..if you can't try to read MTB3 i just had a look about it yesterday and it seems like a good review book and if your short of tie probably it will work with you.. when exactly is your exam ?

sam im using KLN (read some subjects twice others once), MTB3 (only once reading), made ridiculously simple (not so good read only a few topics) and FA (also touched only a few topics). did UW offline for surgery, peads, psychiatry and some IM (scored average 65%- with 69% for surgery and psychiatry). Just started UWoffline and kaplan qbook obgyn (not doing so good (55%) but im optimistic).

done kaplan qbook for the other subjects.

NBME 3 offline (scored 70%-no idea if im buying that score since its offline)

currently doing kaplan qbank. started off with 55% average then managed to hit 65% after 180 questions (had a couple of 75%) and then had a fall with a recent 20 random questions of 35%!!!!!......... im still optimistic. one set of 20 questions ain't determining my future (or at least im not gonna let it)!!

gonna turn in for the night and back on doing uwoffline and kaplan qbook tomo for obgyn and then 60 kaplan qbank questions every evening - till night.

im hoping by the time i finish kaplan qbank and all of UW offline (early dec) i would average 65-70% on the last 10 sets of 44 questions (kaplan qbank doesnt allow 46 questions), and then in dec ill start UW online and hoping that will average 75% (fingers crossed) till the day of my exam end of jan. i dont have 10 hrs a day to study but i can certainly manage 4 hrs of question time in the evenings with 2 hrs of question time in the day time (while in the hospital during breaks etc).

and in the mean time im taking note of all the questions i couldnt answer (well not all but the ones that startled me) and will be studying it from time to time. if i have time to type it out, we can all discuss those. no promises though.

there that was a rather detailed answer to your question of 'what books are u using'... sorry:sorry:

lol no actually i was looking for a detailed answer
for the OB/GYN i found kaplan LN so helpful maybe if you give it another chance foucusing a little bit more on it you can get in the high 80s for kaplan qbook.
i also did uw offline the first time my score sucked it was between 55-65%
On the 2nd time i managed to go higher about 78-85%
ryt now i've done 19 blocks of qbank offline the last one i ended up with 10 mistakes which was a blast for me after two blocks of 16-17 mistakes out of 46
m aiming for an average of 10-11 mistakes a block or even lower so i'm leaving the rest of the blocks till i'm done with IM..then m going to do NBME online and the rest of qbank so this is where i ryt now keep me posted of where you are as i will .. Gd luck

yeah ill c where i am after kaplan qbook and uwoffline with obgyn. if its still not satsfactory then ill read up KLN again. although i wish i had enough time to read KLN IM again since that is the biggest subject. but in the mean time have u heard of UW notes? im reading that too during breaks. alot of IM stuff in it. heart stuff etc. so that is good too.

i do have this uw notes i don't know if it is the same you got, but the one that i have is the answers of uw so i've already taken out the answers and details that i dont know on external notes so i'd rather read my notes rather than reading someone else's notes lol .. So are those the same ones you got ?
