Default hypocalcemia

hello everyone.. do you know why does hypocalcemia develop in setting of tumour lysis synd.? thanks

There is a huge amount of intracellular phosphate released from dying cells during tumor lysis syndrome. This excess phosphate binds with circulating calcium and precipitates it in extracellular tissues and bone, leading to the classic clinical picture of hypocalcemia.
