Thermometer Kaplan Q-bank VS UWorld for Step 2CK

Hey, guys!

I need your help and advice supported with real CK experience or NBME scores regarding Kaplan Q - bank and Uworld → now I'm 32% through the Kaplan Q-bank, with average of 53% correct → I know it is God Damn Retarded Score, shame on me, I'm frustrated too ... I have not yet started UWorld, my initial plan was to cover Kaplan Q-bank and after hit the UW followed by NBMEs' - I don't know - but I have a subjective feeling that Kaplan Q-bank for CK → has a lot of Step 1 type meticulous questions in it instead of being pure clinical as I expected. Can you guys please give an advice - is the Kaplan Q-bank for CK worst it?

PS. From my Step 1 experience - I did Kaplan Q bank for Step 1 twice, UW 3 time and still got 235 - I knew another girl from our Facebook NBME Discussion Group - she got 242 and never did Kaplan Q-bank ( also she never showed her score to me) IS the same crap happening to me?

Any honest suggestions are truly appreciated. Thanks much!

In my personal opinion (please don't hit me).
Kaplan is good for final run.
I did UW twice even without reading something (just selected kaplan 2007 lectures). Got 66-67% there after first run. After that despite a lot of hesitating I took Kaplan. I found that a LOT of questions there test exactly the same concepts as UW does. Question stems are much longer which I believe helps me with time management (I started to read question twice quicker). Yes, near 10% of questions are from WTF series and also I found 2-3 wrong questions (outdated). My average is 72% (with spread from 50 to 86% ). I plan to go back to UW in last 7 days before exam and review my notes. And again I feel that Kaplan really reinforced my UW knowlege despite lacking some important topics.
So finally I think that doing 2 Qbanks worth it if u have a time.

Thanks much for sharing your experience!

How was your study plan of UW? how long it took to finish 1st run?
That is very good just going through question without any book and getting 66% - I think you have started it as soon after Step 1?
For me, I have noticed that CK questions are easily can be answered based on Step 1 - knowledge - especially for the questions asking the most likely diagnosis, causative agent, I think I did I strategic mistake starting doing questions so late.

I did all UW random timed in 2 month. Started it 1,5months after step 1 and at the very beginning I also found that many Q in CK could be answered solely with step 1 knowlege. But to get normal score u have ultimately to add a lot of "CK knowlege" from MTB and Qbanks.
You have a lot of time (3 months I guess) to give CK so u can easily cover UW 2-3 times which I suggest to do ASAP and then get back to Kaplan just to reinforce yourself with extra questions. I think UW is better in the beginning because explanations there much more comprehensive, "stable" and clear in comparison to Kaplan.
Now reading kaplan I realize that without UW knowlege I wouldn't have understood many Q even with explanations

Hey,

Basically, what I have understood, you just did UW - whole Q-bank, just based on Step 1 knowledge first is that correct?

Like UW x 2 → MTB2&3→ Kaplan → NMBE → .... real CK Exam?

Going to Kaplan CK lecture notes seems too much for me, have you tried any NBME based on that?

Yes , correct. CK notes are good if you want to got to the match next year but may be you're "fast reader".. . for me it's too long.
And yea I believe that QW twice - MTB+Kaplan simultaneously - NBME\UW mix and u will be fine. But keep in mind that I have my exam in 4 weeks so may be everything I'm talking about is just crap

wish u all the best

I liked your comment - exactly - CK Kaplan's notes are too long - you know what I'll follow your strategy - please stay in touch, I assume you already nailed the CS too. If one month left then you were doing NBME too? Is that correct? Then how much scores you are getting - honestly I don't need 270 +, if I get ECFMG certificate by end of September, all scores above 220 + & all of them first attempt then I'm good to go the program I would like to apply.

Thanks again for sharing yours experience!
