Default Bipolar Disorder Drug Therapy

Here is another problem I found it difficult in psychiatry
When u have a mania patient...when to give him haloperidol and when u give him lithium?
I think it's difficult to decide. Can u help me with this.

I.V Haloperidol is given initially to stabilize the patient. Then you give Lithium as a maintenance therapy (it takes a couple of weeks before the full effect of Lithium is seen, that's why they give Haloperidol initially for stat stabilization).
