Question Preventing ear infections

A 3 yr old girl has fever and ear pain for one day. She has clear nasal discharge and cough for 3 days. She has a hx of severe ear infections and one episode of strep pharyngitis over the past 12 months. Her father smokes and family has 2 cats. She swims in the family swimming pool. Her temp is 38.5. She has clear nasal discharge, erythema and bulging of the tympanic membrane, erythema of the throat without exudates. Lungs are clear. What is the recommendation to prevent recurrences in this patient?

a) Avoid smoke exp
b) Avoid cats
c) Use earplugs when swimming
d) Daily otic antibiotic use
e) Prophylactic oral decongestants
f) Tonsillectomy
